Did you know charter schools serve rural communities?

While the majority of charter schools serve families in urban areas (60 percent), there are many charter schools in rural communities across the country - and that number is steadily increasing. There are now more than 200,000 students attending charter schools in rural communities. California has the highest number – there are 114 rural charter schools in the state – but a total of 10 states have more than 30 rural charter schools.

We are so excited to celebrate charter public schools throughout National Charter Schools Week! A new fact series will be on the blog each day this week so check back for infographics to share on Twitter and Facebook.
